1.0 CPE credits available for live attendance.

In this webinar, Kevin Leung and Jasbir Singh will share how they are cultivating a data-driven culture within the Audit, Evaluation, and Risk Branch at the Canada Revenue Agency with their recently created data museum as described in their article, “The Data Museum”, published in last year’s April 2017 issue of the Internal Auditor magazine.

In their opinion, internal auditors can acquire the skills necessary to gather audit evidence from data stores within operational and administrative systems. Auditors should not only be able to interview people, but they should also be able to “interview” or query data sets using database technology. “In exercising due professional care internal auditors must consider the use of technology-based audit and other data analysis techniques.” (1220.A2, International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing)

Learning Objective:

  • Learn about the benefits of having easily accessible data within an internally developed data museum.
  • Learn how SQL technology can be used to query databases to gain valuable insights from data.
  • Learn about what next steps can be taken after having built a data museum.
