President’s Message

Dear Orange County Chapter Members,
August kicked off with our first luncheon training of the year featuring Sami Salem and Erik Olsgaard from KPMG. This event was well attended as participants learned about Internal Audit’s role in digital labor. September also brings a feature speaker. Our VP Programs Steven  Vengrow secured Eric Woolery, Orange County Auditor- Controller, who will give attendees an update on the Financial State of the County. Please join us September 19 at the Equinox by registering here.

Not to be missed is our Fall Conference on October 27, 2017. This year we will hold the event at Mile Square Park. If you have questions about the event, or would like to assist in any way, we have roles that require as little as an hour of your time.   Please reach out to our 1st  Vice President Meghan Kennedy at: meghankennedy.iia@gmail.com.

Thanks to the efforts of our Academic Relations Committee Chair, Raj Sawhney, our chapter is building new relationships with California State University Fullerton and University of California Irvine, as well as growing the current relationships with these institutions. If you or your organization is interested in sponsoring a student membership for $40 or an educator membership for $135,  please  contact  Raj at: rsawhney@focal-point.com. This outreach effort is important for our chapter as well as the educational efforts in audit within Orange County.

As mentioned last month, we had some transition in leadership on our chapter Board. On behalf of the chapter, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Stella Acosta for volunteering to serve as our Secretary. I would also like to thank Doann Khoo for volunteering to serve the chapter as our Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) Committee Chair, and John Brooks for volunteering to serve as our Advocacy Committee Chair. We are proud and grateful for the strength, support, and experience of our volunteers. If you are interested in donating 2-4 hours of time to the chapter, please contact me at rsnell1@mail.cccd.edu. The success of our chapter is built on our wonderful contingent of volunteers.

We also would like to thank Kia Motors America for sponsoring the chapter at the GOLD level, and Focal Point Data Risk for sponsoring the chapter at the SILVER level. In August, we were proud to obtain additional sponsorship from Ernst and Young at the GOLD level!!! We are proud to have these sponsors as continued partners in our success. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, our Chapter has several opportunities. Please contact me at rsnell1@mail.cccd.edu if you would like to sponsor your local IIA chapter
Best regards,
Rachel Snell
