President’s Message

Dear Orange County Chapter Members,
In March, the IIA, ACFE, and ISACA held a joint event at Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley.  The event was well attended with a record registration of 200 people.  IIA members had an opportunity to network with peers in our sister organizations and receive a broad learning experience across the audit, fraud, and IT fields.   On that same note, the ISACA—LA chapter is hosting another event, and IIA OC members have been invited to attend and take advantage of this learning opportunity.  Our very own Nicole Ungaro will be sponsoring an IIA booth, so be sure to stop by and say hello.  For more information, see LA ISACA Spring Conference.

Coming up in April, please join us at the luncheon on April 17th at the Equinox.  April’s lunch and learn event features Principled Performance is the “Why” Behind Integrated GRC, with “lead singer” Jason Mefford of Rock N Roll Risk Management. In this session attendees will learn about gaining a commitment from the board and management for integrated GRC efforts and Internal audit’s key role in the GRC process. To register for this lunch event, please visit: https://chapters.theiia.org/Orange%20County/Events/Pages/3-2018-OC-Chapter-Lunch-Event.aspx

Also in April, the IIA OC chapter wishes safe travels, good networking, and great learning as we send four of our Board volunteers to the annual IIA Leadership Academy in Orlando, Florida.  This is a time where chapter leaders have an opportunity to learn best practices for chapter operations, meet others across the country in similar volunteer roles, and participate in feedback sessions to help the IIA organization as a whole serve its chapters better.
On that same note, we would like to thank all of you who participated in the voting process for next year’s leaders.  During the month of April we will be review the results of the voting and we will announce the new slate of officers at the May lunch event on the 15th.  As always, anyone interested in volunteering for the chapter, we have many opportunities to serve.  Please contact me at rsnell1@mail.cccd.edu for more information.
We also would like to continue our thanks to Kia Motors America and Ernst and Young for sponsoring the chapter at the GOLD level, and Focal Point Data Risk for sponsoring the chapter at the SILVER level. We also received a sponsorship from RSM, who is not only helping sponsor the April and May lunch events, but also providing a speaker at the May lunch. We are proud to have these sponsors as continued partners in our success.  If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, our Chapter has several opportunities.  Please contact me at rsnell1@mail.cccd.edu if you would like to sponsor your local IIA chapter.
Best regards,
Rachel Snell
