President’s Message

Welcome to Summer, Orange County Auditors!
As we have survived our first heat wave of June and endure surrounding wildfires, the Orange County Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors is hard at work.
Our Board Officers held an initial planning meeting to brainstorm events and activities for the upcoming chapter year.  Our District Advisor, Ofelia Tamayo and District Representative John Lefter hosted a District Workshop where all IIA chapters in our District had an opportunity to network and share best practices for hosting events, engaging volunteers, and improving member outreach.  While all officers were in attendance, would like to recognize our Academic Relations Chair Raj Sawhney (from Focal-Pont Data Risk), for also taking the time to attend the event.
As we move into July, our Programs Chair Steven Vengrow will be hard at work planning luncheons, starting in August 2017!  If you or anyone you know is interested in speaking at one of our lunch events, please contact Steven at
As you know, our chapter cannot survive on the shoulders of one.  It takes an active effort from volunteers and sponsors to host training and other events.  A big thanks to Jenelle Franklin (from Pacific Life) for volunteering to serve on our Registration Committee.  If you are interested in serving as a volunteer or as a sponsor, our Chapter has several opportunities.  Please contact me at if you have questions about serving or sponsoring your local IIA chapter.
Best regards,
Rachel Snell
President (2017), IIA Orange County Chapter
