COSO Update

The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) has issued an update to Internal Control - Integrated Framework, the definition of internal controls that has become the world-wide standard for auditors and other risk and control personnel. Is it really a new framework? Are different evaluation tools needed? How does it differ from the original framework and from the ERM framework? What's the impact on certifications such as Sarbanes-Oxley? Those are just some of the questions we'll answer in this session.

Plus, we'll discuss Larry's own experience which is that most internal audit departments didn’t receive much benefit out of the original framework even though they should have. This framework update presents an opportunity for internal auditors to take the lead in understanding what good control design means, and Larry can help you do that.

Speaker: Larry D. Hubbard (CPA, CIA, CISA, CCSA) is a professional trainer and consultant with a broad background in accounting, auditing, and finance. Prior to founding Larry Hubbard & Associates, Larry’s work experience included Mobil Corporation and Ernst & Young. In addition to conducting his own training seminars, Larry frequently conducts training for other associations, such as The Institute of Internal Auditors; Watkins, Meegan, Drury and Company; and Risk Management Advisory Services.
