"Transforming Internal Audit through Critical Thinking and the Role of Internal Audit with Corporate Compliance Imperatives".


Discussion:  During the meeting we will explore the evolving role of the internal audit function and increasing coordination with other departments to address broader risk and compliance imperatives.  Our esteemed presenters will share practical examples from their experience to explore the following emerging risk areas:


·         Transformation of Internal Audit through critical thinking


·         Corporate compliance imperatives, including Anti-Bribery and Corruption Programs and the underlying internal control environment


·         Business Partner risk across the Extended Enterprise and the changing business risk environment arising from the evolution of business structures and ongoing reliance on third party service providers, suppliers and vendors.


Primary Presenters:

Craig Carter, Craig has more than 30 years of business experience and has served as a Chief Audit Executive in industry prior to his career in public accounting. Craig is currently assisting a multinational retailer in redesigning their Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC)-related financial processes by enhancing existing controls and developing new controls to mitigate targeted ABC-related risks. He previously served as the Internal Audit Leader of the Southeast region and the Contract Compliance Services (CCS) leader for KPMG's U.S. Midwest Area Advisory practice. In his capacity as lead partner, Craig is also accountable for the delivery of advisory and tax services to several large, multinational accounts.



Kevin Sheehan is a Managing Director at KPMG in the Contract Compliance Services practice.  In this role he assists clients in assessing and monitoring their risks associated with third parties.  He has served clients across a wide range of industries, including agriculture, automotive, consumer products financial services, media, and pharmaceuticals.
