I am excited to again assume the role as President of the IIA Atlanta Chapter for the 2018-19 fiscal year.  There are so many initiatives that we’ve seen come to fruition, and I cannot wait to see what the new chapter year has in store.  Just a few of our chapter’s outstanding accomplishments:

The Atlanta Chapter continues to have Platinum status

The Atlanta Conference (TAC)

The Young Professionals Group and Mentoring Program

CAE and Direct Reports Roundtables

Annual Awards Banquet

Providing scholarships to internal auditing students

We have had a number of events:

·        September 28, 2018 - The Atlanta Conference (TAC) was an overwhelming success with over 700 attendees.

·        October 1-5, 2018 - CIA Review Course presented by Dr. Glen Sumners for the 29th year in a row was well attended

·        November 9, 2018 - Internal Audit Student Case Competition was held at Kennesaw State University for students attending colleges and university in the state of Georgia.

·        November 2, 2018 – Ethics Training

And we have many events planned for the remainder of the fiscal year:

·        January 22, 2019 – Financial Services Conference

·        February 15, 2019 - Student Day at Kennesaw State University February

·        April 12, 2019 - The 14th Annual Chief Audit Executive Appreciation Day

·        May 23, 2019 - Awards and Certification Presentation Banquet

·        Chapter meetings each month

·        CAE and Direct Reports Roundtables

Of course, none of this would be possible without the tireless work of Nancy Thomas, the Chapter’s Executive Director now in her 11th year with us, and our terrific volunteers.  Is this your year to get involved?  Volunteering with the IIA is a truly rewarding experience.  If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Nancy Thomas at atlantaiia@comcast.net
