Emphasize the Basics. Elevate the Standards.

Full Day CPE Event

Tuesday, April 9, 2019

Hear from local leaders in the internal auditing profession for a day dedicated to exploring the changing world of fundamentals in internal auditing.

For our public sector internal auditors, Leita Hart-Fanta will begin the day in “Yellow Book Update” by providing a walk-through of the 2018 revision of the Government Auditing Standards. Leita will cover the significant changes and their impact on internal auditors.

The IIA Austin Chapter is fortunate as we have a number of our members that sit on IIA Committees. Our luncheon panel presentation, “Austin Chapter Voice in the IIA”, will feature these IIA Committee Members sharing updates and info from IIA Headquarters and their committees.

After the luncheon, attendees will learn about “The New Sawyer’s” from Dan Clayton, UT System Audit Office Director of Strategy and KM and one of the primary authors of the transformative update. The 7th Edition of Sawyer’s Internal Auditing (released January 2019) is a game changer.

We will close the day with a fun and thought-provoking presentation on “Ethics and the Internal Auditor” from Professor Robert Prentice, the Ed & Molly Smith Professor of Business Law at the McCombs School of Business, UT-Austin and faculty director of the Ethics Unwrapped video series and educational program. Come challenge your understanding of ethics! Qualifies for IIA Ethics CPE.

Yellow Book Update

What’s new with the Yellow Book?

The 2018 revision of the Yellow Book contains several key provisions that impact performance auditors.  In this three-hour session, we will concentrate on the significant changes including the Yellow Book’s new expectations regarding internal control documentation and disclosures.  We will also touch on other common pain points when applying the Yellow Book to an internal audit shop including auditor independence and audit planning.

Leita Hart-Fanta

Leita Hart-Fanta, CPA, CGFM, CGAP cuts through all of the technicalities and tells it like it is regarding audit standards.  She is the founder of YellowBook-CPE.com and is the author of “The Yellow Book Interpreted 2018.”   She was named an “Outstanding Presenter” by the IIA in 2014.

Event Payment and Cancellation Notices

PAYMENTS

In order to continue to improve chapter operations, enhance controls, and adhere to the preferences of IIA Headquarters, there will be two methods of payment for luncheons - via credit card online or by check at the door.

Payment must be made in advance or at the door of the event. NO CASH or credit/debit cards can be accepted at the door; only checks can be accepted at the event.

PYMT BY EMPLOYERS

If you prefer that your employer pay for your attendance, when registering select the option to pay at the door. When you receive your registration confirmation email, it will include a link to pay balance due. Forward this email to your accounts payable folks. They can then click that link and pay for you by credit card. They do not need your password. However, they must pay your balance prior to the registration deadline for you to gain admittance into the luncheon. This is to ensure sufficient space and meals, as well as reduce post event collection efforts.

SEMINARS

Payment by purchase orders for full or half day seminars only.  Please ensure payments submitted by your agency or through the comptroller include either the member name or the invoice number so that we can accurately allocate that payment to your profile.

CANCELLATIONS

No cancellations accepted after the registration/cancellation deadline. If you are unable to attend, you may send another member in your place.

NO SHOWS

No shows will be billed the full amount of the event.
