for the IIA Annual Golf Tournament
May 4th, 2015

Richard Chambers, President and CEO of The IIA, shares important lessons he has learned in almost 40 years around the internal audit profession. In the session, Richard will highlight the importance for internal auditors of building and sustaining effective relationships, communications, demonstrating value and maintaining a continuous focus on risks. He will share personal experiences from a career that has taken him from military child care centers to the halls of Congress; from US Postal mail processing centers to nuclear power plants; and from the jungles of Honduras to the Kremlin.

The Austin Chapter was chartered in 1979 by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).  The IIA is an international professional association of more than 100,000 members with global headquarters in Altamonte Springs, Fla., United States. The IIA is recognized throughout the world as the internal audit profession’s leader in certification, education, research, and technological guidance.
Per the Chapter's Bylaws, the purpose of the Austin Chapter is "to provide professional development activities supporting the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, and to research, disseminate, and promote knowledge and information concerning internal auditing. The primary focus of the Chapter is to serve its members first, and then the internal audit profession."
The Chapter is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, and has a long history of providing continuing professional education to auditors in the Austin area for over 30 years.
