The Austin Chapter was chartered in 1979 by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). The IIA is an international professional association of more than 100,000 members with global headquarters in Altamonte Springs, Fla., United States. The IIA is recognized throughout the world as the internal audit profession’s leader in certification, education, research, and technological guidance.
Per the Chapter's Bylaws, the purpose of the Austin Chapter is "to provide professional development activities supporting the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, and to research, disseminate, and promote knowledge and information concerning internal auditing. The primary focus of the Chapter is to serve its members first, and then the internal audit profession."
The Chapter is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, and has a long history of providing continuing professional education to auditors in the Austin area for over 30 years.
