 Important Message from Chapter President

To The Membership of the Coastal Carolina Chapter of the IIA
Last spring I agreed to assume the chapter's presidency for a year.  One of my objectives was to arrange for a schedule of meetings that met your needs.  Over the summer, working with the rest of the chapter's leadership, and after surveying the chapter's membership we contacted people and came up with a schedule of events that we thought would address the needs and wants of the membership.  That schedule was published last month.
The first of our meetings is scheduled for next Wednesday, December 17, 2014.  We have arranged for a speaker to come up from the IIA's headquarters in Florida to talk to you about the current status of the IIA and how the IIA can be of benefit to you.  We sent out an email to the membership on December 1, 2014 requesting responses as to attendance.  As of this date only one of you has responded; and that was to let us know that the respondent could not attend.  Today we only have two people who have said that they can attend the meeting.  If we don't get at least 10 to 15 people to commit to attending the meeting by Monday morning we will have no alternative but to cancel the meeting.
Additionally, the schedule (see below) has two more meetings in 2015 where we have asked speakers from outside the Charleston community to present.  If we have to cancel the meeting next week we will have to seriously rethink our plans as we cannot go through the trouble and expense of setting up these sessions if we have to worry about low attendance.
An objective of the chapter is to provide IIA members in the area with relevant opportunities to improve their knowledge of internal audit and related areas.  We want to address this objective but we need you to participate.
I am asking each of you again to attend the meeting on the 17th.
