Speaker - Hal Garyn

Hal’s thirty-one year professional career has been predominately
focused on the financial services industry, emphasizing the disciplines
of risk management, internal audit, strategic planning, mergers and
acquisitions, investor relations and corporate governance. During his
career, Hal has reported to boards and board committees on matters
affecting Risk Management, Internal Audit and Governance.
Hal is currently the Vice President – North American Services for the
Institute of Internal Auditors. There he is responsible for Chief Audit Executive
Services, Quality Services and Global Advocacy.
Hal has previously served on the Institute of Internal Auditor’s (IIA) International Board
as its Audit Committee Chairman. He has also served as a member of the International
IIA Ethics Committee, as well as its Global and North American Nominating
Committees, the IIA’s North American Board and an Officer and/or Director for four
different IIA chapters.
Hal obtained his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and MBA from the University of South
Florida, and holds the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certification in Risk
Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and
Associate of Risk Management (ARM) designations. He also maintained a Certified
Public Accountant (CPA) license in the State of Florida from 1986 through 2005.
