This eight hour session will take a brief look at the 2012 ACFE Global Fraud Study which provides details of the types of fraud happening now (or “hot frauds”), along with information regarding “who” is committing these frauds. This will set the base for the wealth of additional information that will cover:
In Depth Occurrence, Detection and Prevention of “Hot Frauds” An in-depth analysis of those frauds that seem to be occurring over and over again during the past two years and methods of detection and prevention of these types of fraud…specifically:
· Expense Report Reimbursement Fraud
· Contract and Procurement Fraud
Establishment of a Fraud Hotline or Otherwise Anonymous Reporting Mechanism Tips represent the #1 reason frauds are detected. This information provides details of establishing a reporting mechanism that creates an environment where the tipster feels confident that the tip will be investigated, without reprisal. This section includes several policies, including Fraud Policy and Whistleblower Protection Policy.
Digital Forensics This section deals with information that is a “must-know” when it comes to investigating frauds that involve the need to use certain digital forensic techniques.
Conducting Fraud Risk AssessmentsThis section provides instruction and information on performing an effective fraud risk assessment for the company that directs the design and establishment of controls necessary to attempt to prevent those areas of vulnerability.

About the presenter:
Steve Dawson is the President of Dawson Forensic Analytics, P.L.L.C., and for the past 28 years, has performed forensic investigations, internal control design consulting, accounting records reconstruction, and forensic training services for various business entities located throughout the United States, including the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC), and other state and federal regulatory agencies. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting, and holds Certified Public Accountant certificates in Texas and Arizona. He also holds a certificate as a Certified Fraud Examiner.
