Featured Speaker: Peter Hanashiro​ (KMH LLP, Partner)

Peter will provide an update on the changes to the COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission) Internal Control- Integrated Framework.  The Exposure Draft was issued in December 2011 with a final release in May 2013, and it’s been nearly 20 years since the original COSO framework has gone through any significant modifications.  Peter will highlight the proposed enhancements and “refresh” to the COSO framework and provide practical insights to the suggested changes.

About the Speaker:
Peter was born and raised in Hawaii and started his career in the Los Angeles office of Arthur Andersen in 1988.   He spent seven years in Los Angeles and transferred to Hawaii in 1994, where he has since been providing accounting and advisory services to a variety of public, private and governmental entities.  Peter is a Founding Partner in KMH LLP’s Solutions Group and heads up the Risk Management practice areas.   Peter was named the 2005 Pacific Business News (PBN) “Young Business Leader of the Year” for his outstanding business leadership and commitment to the community.

Peter has extensive experience in providing accounting, advisory and consulting services to various clients.  He has served many local companies including, not-for-profit entities, real estate companies, educational institutions and healthcare providers.  Peter is the Chairman of the Hawaii Council on Economic Education, Trustee for the Queens Health Systems and member of the Audit Committee, Past President & current Board member and Treasurer of Kalihi-Palama Health Center, and is the past President of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Hawaii chapter, and is a member of several other civic organizations.

He is a CIA and also a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and accounting from the University of California at Berkeley (1988), graduating with High Honors and Phi Beta Kappa.  Peter is married and has three children.
