Volunteer Opportunities with the IIA

Volunteering is a great way to contribute to both your personal and chapter’s success - it connects you to others in your profession, expands your personal network, and provides development opportunities in skills such as project management and leadership.  Many volunteer positions only require an hour or two each month, and some can be broken down into smaller tasks requiring even less!  If you can spare an hour per month, please consider volunteering!

This month we’re spotlighting several opportunities.

Our first spotlighted volunteer opportunity is with Academic Relations.  The University Liaison volunteer role will network with faculty and students at Houston-area schools to expand our academic initiatives.  If you are an alumnus of one of the following universities and would like to learn more about working with your alma mater, please contact us!

·       Houston Baptist University

·       Prairie View A&M University

·       Rice University

Our second volunteer opportunity to highlight is with the Roundtable Management Committee.  This is a newly organized set of volunteers to assist Membership and Roundtable leaders with the development of roundtable programs, organization of meetings, administrative activities, and assistance with running the meetings.

Our third set of volunteer opportunities spotlighted this month are with our VP-Seminars.  Volunteers are needed for both the Petrochem Conference and Government Conference, and a Chair is needed for the Government Conference.

Finally, we are gearing up to host our first in-person Annual Conference since 2019, and we’ll need volunteers in several roles, in both conference planning and preparation, and day-of activities.

The table below provides a full list of volunteer opportunities with the Chapter.  To learn more about these opportunities and to volunteer for one or more positions, contact Michael McManus, VP of Membership at membership@houstoniia.org or Ashley Cuevas, Volunteer Coordinator ashley.cuevas@protiviti.com.
