Event Summary:

The Lehigh Valley Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Chapter Academic Relations Committee is holding its annual Student Night.  This event recognizes area students who have been nominated by their professors for their outstanding achievements and performance.  The Chapter will present each student with an award.  This year the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) of the Lehigh Valley will join the Lehigh Valley IIA in partnership for student night.

We are excited to have Mr. Sam Antar (www.whitecollarfraud.com), former CFO on Crazy Eddie Inc, provide a first person presentation on corporate fraud.  The Crazy Eddie fraud may appear smaller and gentler than the massive billion-dollar frauds exposed in recent times, such as Bernie Madoff's Ponzi scheme, frauds in the subprime mortgage market, the AIG bailout, and Goldman Sach's failure to disclose.  However, their 18-year crime spree conducted in the light of day serves as a fascinating case study of the multiple methods of deceit that white collar criminals routinely engage in.  The evolution of the Crazy Eddie crime drama illustrates how petty, easily rationalized criminal infractions can escalate into serious and complex frauds and conspiracies, without so much as a thought given to concepts such as morality, ethics and justice.

Refreshments will be served after the distribution of student awards.
