Event Summary: In May 2013, the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) issued the 2013 Internal Control-Integrated Framework (Framework) - a broadened and updated version of the 1992 Framework which has been the profession's leading guidance for designing, implementing, and evaluating a system of internal controls.
This training will explore the change in the new COSO Framework, and will be presented by Senior Managers and Partners from Deloitte & Touche, LLP. The course objectives are to:
o Provide an overview of COSO’s structure and mission
o Provide an overview of the COSO 2013 framework, including:
o What was carried forward
o Broad changes
o Transition guidance
o Provide practical implementation examples facilitated through directed questions and activities
o Includes deep dive into each component, related principles, points of focus and approaches.
o Discuss the limitations of internal control
o Discuss considerations and next steps during the transition period, including available tools and resources
David Bogatyrev, Senior Manager
David Bogatyrev is a Senior Manager in the Princeton office of Deloitte LLP. David has over 12 years of experience in public accounting, private industry and consulting in the consumer and industrial product industries. David’s professional accounting experience includes a deep discipline in both audit services and internal controls.
David’s internal control related roles include leading the Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts at multi-national companies and leading internal audit co-sourcing efforts for public companies. David also has significant experience in facilitating national and regional trainings, with a specialization in internal control related topics.
David is a graduate of Binghamton University, and Baruch College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Masters in Accounting respectively. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York and New Jersey and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
Christopher K. Decker, Manager
Deloitte & Touche LLP
Christopher Decker is a Manager in the New York office of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Chris has over 10 years of internal and external audit experience in multiple industries including: industrial products and manufancturing, hospitality and gaming, commodity trading companies, construction, and insurance/healthcare.
Chris manages numerous internal audit projects including internal control rationalization, compliance assessments, fraud hotlines and investigations, risk assessments and audit department quality assessments.
Chris is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Connecticut and New York and a member of the AICPA and IIA.
