Cyber risk, social media, succession planning, supply chain interruption, new market entry and geopolitical risk…these are just some of the issues that organizations are starting to now deal with more on a regular basis.  Add in topics such as strategic risks and value killers – and your organization may find itself challenged to stay on top of emerging risks. Organizations don’t always know how to identify emerging risks to begin to address and manage. Within the complexities of today’s business environment, internal auditors can play a key role in helping management identify and protect against emerging risks.

Has your Internal Audit department reviewed its record retention recently? A good records retention program helps any organization boost productivity.  This session will cover how Internal Audit can influence and enhance operations by facilitating effective document retrieval.

Internal Audit is a profession that offers great challenge, reward, and opportunity.  It also involves extensive interaction with various stakeholders- internal and external.  This session explores how thinking about your brand can not only elevate the role of internal audit within your organization but also open the door for great opportunities throughout your career.
 
Digital Risk - Cyber, Mobile, Cloud, Social Media & Analytics
Khalid Wasti & Geoff Kovesdy (3:30 – 5:00)
Increases in cyber-attacks are still on the rise, both in number and sophistication.  To make matters worse, today's criminals are no longer focusing exclusively on financial assets and are expanding to intellectual property and IT infrastructure.  This session will cover cyber risks that all Internal Auditors should consider.

About Our Speakers
 
Kevin Mayeux
Executive Vice President, Chief Officer for North American Operations, and General Counsel for the Institute of Internal Auditors
 
Kevin Mayeux serves as the Executive Vice President, Chief Officer for North American Operations, and General Counsel for the Institute of Internal Auditors Global Headquarters located in Altamonte Springs, Florida.  In this role, Kevin supervises the core membership services offered to all 76,000 IIA members in North America in 161 chapters located throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean islands.  Functions and product offerings under his supervision include conferences, seminars, publications, chapter services, membership, academic relations, quality assurance, executive services and advocacy.  Kevin further provides enterprise-wide leadership serving as the IIA’s General Counsel, as Executive Director of the IIA Research Foundation, and President of the Internal Audit Academic Advancement Fund.  He holds a certificate in Risk Management Assurance.
 
An attorney by trade, Kevin has served as an association management professional for sixteen years, including serving as the executive director of a statewide trade association in Tallahassee and CEO of an international individual membership society in Indianapolis.  He is a Certified Association Executive and has held leadership positions on both the state and national level within the association management community, including being named Indiana’s association executive of the year for two consecutive years.   He has served on the Florida Bar’s Student Education & Admission to the Bar Committee, assisted with numerous political campaigns, and has been deeply involved in a variety of civic and community service organizations.
 
While attending the University of Florida, Kevin served as student body president and held numerous other campus leadership posts.   The Tampa native is an active supporter of Gator athletics and currently lives in Winter Springs, Florida. 
 
Dawn Jones
Director – Deloitte & Touche
 
Dawn is a Director in the Greater Washington Advisory practice. Dawn has over 16 years of experience with providing risk and internal controls, business process, revenue assurance and regulatory services to her clients. Her industry focus has primarily been in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors, and she also serves clients in other industries including government contracting and not for profits.  She also has prior experience in industry, establishing a new internal audit function and audit plan for a telecommunications company.
Dawn also supports the practice development of Deloitte’s national Internal Audit Transformation service offering within the U.S, and is involved in the development of strategy, methodology and tools, as well as a national and global advisor to client teams on internal audit services. Dawn leads internal audit training initiatives, including Deloitte’s training relationship with the Institute of Internal Auditors. She is a frequent developer and facilitator of internal auditing, risk management, and core consulting training and presentations, and has co-authored risk management thoughtware.
Dawn is a Certified Public Accountant (MD, VA, and DC), Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified in Risk Management Assurance.
 
 
Hatice Dalton
Director – Deloitte & Touche
 
Hatice is a Director in the tri-state Enterprise Risk Services (ERS) practice with over eighteen years of risk consulting and internal audit experience. Hatice has provided a broad array of risk management services to some of the Firm’s most strategic global clients. In addition to a strong process and financial control background, Hatice co-developed Deloitte’s enterprise risk assessment (ERA) methodology. Over the last few years, Hatice has taken on national and global responsibilities by contributing to the ongoing development of Deloitte’s world-class risk-intelligent internal audit services. Further, she shares her broad experience by facilitating both internal and external national ERA training and IA methodology sessions both nationally and globally.
Hatice’s dedication to her clients has led to internal audit functions with centers-of-excellence that support dynamic, complex, and global enterprises.  She has significant experience leading large teams that consist of both internal and external staff, and reporting directly to Audit Committees.
George Hanley
Director – Deloitte & Touche
 
George is a director in the Governance, Regulatory & Risk Strategies practice, serving clients in the insurance, asset management and securities industries. George has 30 years of industry experience at Prudential Financial where he served as the global chief compliance officer for its US and international insurance and investment businesses for ten years. Previously, he was the CCO for Prudential Securities, helping it meet the regulatory obligations arising from its regulatory settlements for limited partnerships and sales practices. George has significant compliance, control and risk management experience as well as experience in operations and business process redesign and financial analysis. George works with clients on the design, operation, management and reporting for compliance and risk programs for insurance companies, broker-dealers and investment advisers.
Debbi Corej
Specialist Leader – Deloitte & Touche
 
Debbi is a Specialist Leader in Deloitte’s Governance, Regulatory & Risk Strategies with extensive experience in compliance and internal auditing in the Financial Services Industry with a focus on life insurance, broker-dealer, banking and financial services companies.   She has developed an expertise in Records Management from her industry experience as well as assisting insurance companies and broker-dealers in their development and implementation of effective Records Management Programs. This has included the assessment of processes, records inventories, issues, monitoring and the development of policies, procedures, and records retention schedules.  Debbi is a member of several industry groups, including FINRA’s Social Media Taskforce, which have developed compliance standards and practices to assist firms comply with regulatory requirements on many critical topics, including records management, books and records, and social media.  She is also a member of ARMA International (formerly Association of Records Managers and Administrators).

Dawnella is the partner in charge of Crowe’s internal audit practice for the east coast. She has 19 years of experience serving diversified financial service companies. Her primary focus is delivery of ERM and outsourced internal audit, loan review and compliance services. In addition, she developed and led Crowe’s internal audit methodology and quality assurance functions, and has been a frequent instructor on topics such as enterprise risk management, risk-based internal audit, corporate governance, and other current topics.
 
Khalid Wasti
Director – Deloitte & Touche
 
As a director in the Audit and Enterprise Risk Services (AERS) group of Deloitte & Touche LLP, Khalid has more than 17 years of information technology (IT), audit and operations experience. Khalid leads the Digital Enterprise initiative for AERS’s Internal Audit Transformation market offering. This cross-industry and cross-functional team helps companies understand the significant risks resulting from the convergence of mobile, cloud, cyber, analytics and social media and provides clients with an integrated, Risk Intelligent approach to managing these five emerging technologies. His team has managed multiple social media assessments nationally and helps companies understand risks, regulations, and reconcile their social media vision and objectives to overall organizational goals and objectives.  Khalid also manages fully outsourced and co-sourced internal audit engagements, including IT, operational, financial, regulatory, and compliance internal audits; business continuity reviews; quality assurance reviews; risk assessments; IT security reviews; and Sarbanes-Oxley testing.
He is a certified public accountant in the State of New York, a certified internal auditor, a certified information systems auditor, and a certified information technology professional. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
Khalid earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a master’s degree in business administration from Baruch College.
Geoff Kovesdy, CISA, CRMA
Senior Manager – Deloitte & Touche
 
Geoff is a Senior Manager in the Enterprise Risk Services practice of Deloitte & Touche, LLP and has broad experience in both project management and risk and controls assessments. He has assisted clients in enhancing their business, IT operations, and PMO capabilities by enabling them to better manage risks with efficient and effective business processes, controls, and technology solutions.  Geoff has been and continues to be responsible for managing cross functional and global teams for a variety of complex projects and has utilized Predictive Project Analytics to help his clients assess their current project management capabilities. 
Geoff is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and CRMA and is certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls.
