 About This Chapter

 
In September, 1943, a group of 25 internal auditors from the Los Angeles area signed the charter which established the Los Angeles Chapter.
 
The professionals wanted an organization which would live up to the IIA's belief in "Progress Though Sharing." They felt this purpose could be accomplished by offering members affordable seminars, professional meetings and social contact with other colleagues.

MEMBER BENEFITS

CHAPTER MEETINGS:

Monthly chapter meetings create an opportunity to hear industry experts, educators and business leaders present on a variety of topics of interest to internal auditors. They provide a forum for exchanging practical know-how and best practices. Our meetings are usually held on the second Wednesday of each month (excluding the summer months) at the Los Angeles Athletic Club in downtown LA.​

 
AREA AND INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES:
Internal audit representatives of business and government meet to exchange ideas for the advancement and understanding of the internal auditing profession. Programs are aimed at increasing understanding of the philosophy and practice of internal auditing. Click here for more info.

BI-MONTHLY TECHNICAL PUBLICATION:
All members receive THE INTERNAL AUDITOR, a technical publication of the IIA. It keeps members informed of current developments in the philosophy and practice of internal auditing. Click here for more info.

BOOKS:

RESEARCH REPORTS:
The Institute conducts a coordinated program of research projects related to the profession and distributes published results to members. Click here for more info.
 
CERTIFIED INTERNAL AUDITOR PROGRAM:
The Institute grants the professional designation "Certified Internal Auditor" to qualified internal auditors. Those who meet certain character, experience and educational requirements may sit for the CIA Examination. Click here for more on certification, including the 2 new certification programs.
 
ASSOCIATION WITH PROFESSIONAL AUDITORS:
A major objective of the IIA is the promotion of contacts and exchange of information among members. To emphasize its belief in the value of cooperation, the Institute adopted the motto "Progress Through Sharing."
