What is Junior Achievement? JA is an organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their own economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.
What is Finance Park? It is a half-day program held at the Wisconsin JA Headquarters at 11111 W. Liberty Dr. (near the corner of Good Hope and 107th). The students are introduced to personal finance and career exploration. They receive family and income scenarios, then visit 19 businesses (storefronts in Finance Park and Biz Town are sponsored by Kohl's, US Bank, Johnson Controls, Harley-Davidson, Joy Global and Manpower) to purchase insurance, clothing, food, transportation and real estate. The students create a budget, allocate utility expenses and make personal investments. Volunteers are there to help them along the way.
Why should you volunteer? Evaluations show that the program has contributed to students understanding that it is important to stay in school to get a good job in order to have financial success as an adult. JA Finance Park is proven to have a positive impact on student attitudes toward school. Many of our member's companies are sponsors of Junior Achievement and volunteering for the Finance Park program is a great way to represent your company.
