The Milwaukee Chapter of the IIA is proud to present a two CPE event with Dr. Larry Rittenberg!
Dr. Larry E. Rittenberg Ph.D., CPA, CIA, is a Professor Emeritus from the University of Wisconsin. Prior to this, he was the Ernst & Young Professor of Accounting & Information Systems at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and chaired the accounting department for 11 years. He is the recipient of numerous outstanding educator awards and countless publications.
Rittenberg has also served as chairman of The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) of the Treadway Commission from 2004 to 2009. He continues as Chair Emeritus. Under his leadership COSO issued guidance on implementing internal controls over financial reporting for smaller public companies (2006), monitoring the effectiveness of internal control (2009) and fraudulent financial reporting (2010). He also played an instrumental role in the development of COSO’s Enterprise Risk Management framework issued in 2004. He has also led the organization in developing a strategic plan aimed at providing more timely guidance on internal controls, governance, and risk management around the world.
In addition to this, he serves on the Board of directors and Audit Committee of Woodward, Inc, a publically traded corporation. He has also served as a financial advisor to the Audit Committee and Board of Petro China, the largest publically listed company in China.
In 2005 Business and Finance Journal recognized him as “one of the top 50 accounting influences in the country.” In 2007 Risk and Treasury magazine called him “one of the most 100 influential individuals in finance.”
He has recently authored COSO: Internal Control – Integrated Framework: Turning Principals in to Positive Action. This project was sponsored by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Milwaukee Chapter.
