Welcome to The IIA Ottawa Chapter
Bienvenue à l'Institut des auditeurs internes, section d'Ottawa

The IIA Ottawa Season is coming to a Close: Celebrate with the Final Event of the Season!

Please join us in celebrating the end of the 2014-15 IIA Ottawa season.

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Sheraton Ottawa Hotel, 150 Albert Street on Thursday, May 28th. We are fortunate this year to have Mr. Ken Hughes, Auditor General of the City of Ottawa as the key note address. In addition, we will be presenting the Brian Aiken Award of Excellence to the successful nominee.

The AGM is a great networking event as well as an opportunity to thank the volunteers who enabled the achievement of the accomplishments of the past year. We will also be holding a draw for great door prizes, including a complete IIA CIA learning System (valued at over $1,000)! This promises to be an insightful and entertaining event.

Please note there is no charge to attend the AGM only. There is a $50 charge to attend the luncheon/keynote session. Register for this great event here.

May is International Internal Audit Awareness Month – Here’s What You Can Do and We’d Love to Hear from You!

What can you do?  Here are some ideas for you to consider to build internal audit awareness with your stakeholders:

  • Include the “Proud to be an Internal Auditor” signature in your e-mail signature and social media accounts.
  • Host a workplace event to share information on what internal audit is, introduce the team and designations, and provide information on how internal audit has added value with your organization.  Consider involving members of senior management to provide complimentary and positive testimonial.
  • Circulate information during events or to senior management.
  • Talk about relevant publications with your teams.

What can you share?  We’ve love to hear your internal audit awareness story.  If you have one to share, please contact ccrane@kpmg.ca.

  • What makes you proud to be an internal auditor?
  • How have you promoted internal audit within your organization?
  • What articles on internal-audit-related topics should be circulated to our membership?
