Contemporary Interviewing Dynamics
Applications for Audits, Litigation and Investigation

Under the canopy of the interview process there are a myriad of sub-topics all related to obtaining a successful communication outcome.

Additionally the inter-relationship of these dynamics requires that the interviewer maintain a function level of proficiency in each element.  In this session each element will be presented and linked to the additional concepts.

The presentation will involve a blended format that includes: individual and group exercises, discussions, interview video assessments.

Training objectives:
At the end of the two-day session, the participant will be able to achieve the following objectives in accordance with information received during the instructional period:  
  1. Identify their individual preference communication style.
  2. Relate the two major deception typologies to the interview process.
  3. Apply two elicitation techniques to foster interpersonal communication.
  4. Apply a strategy for staying focused during the conduct of an interview.
  5. Link the components of the fraud diagram to the subsequent fraud related interview.
  6. Given a scenario requiring an interview, develop an appropriate interview strategy.

Speaker Bio:

Don Rabon, CFE

Association of Certified Fraud Examiners Association 2011 Speaker of the Year.

Retired as Deputy Director Western Campus, NC Justice Academy.  Formerly Manager, Investigations Center of the NC Justice Academy, NC Department of Justice.  Law enforcement experience in rural and municipal law enforcement agencies.  Instructional areas include:  Interviewing, Detecting Deception, Rapport Building, Interrogation, Persuasion, Audit Related Interviewing, Investigations and Investigative Discourse Analysis, Interviewing Generation ME!

Over a period of 35 years, interviewing instruction and investigative assistance has been provided to related professionals in 46 states, Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, Belgium, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Trinidad, Barbados, Singapore, Ireland and England.  In addition, training has been provided to Federal, State, and Local criminal justice personnel, NATO Counterintelligence Personnel as well as private sector investigative and corporate security personnel.

A.A.S in Criminal Justice, from Davidson County Community College and a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration, from East Tennessee State University.  Performed advanced studies at Eastern Kentucky University.  Military experience consists of three years with the US Army.
