Germaine F. Brewington, MBA, CPA, CFE
Germaine received her undergraduate degree from Duke University, and her MBA from UNC at Chapel Hill. Her undergraduate degrees were in Accounting and Economics, and her concentration in graduate school was in Organizational Behavior. She also received a certification from the College Business Management Institute at the University of Kentucky. Germaine is currently working on her terminal degree in management with a specialization in accounting. Germaine is a certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner. She is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), The Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA), The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and the North Carolina Association of CPAs (NCACPA). She also serves on the Education Committee for ALGA.
Germaine is the Director of the Department of Audit Services for the City of Durham. She has been with the City since 2007. Her passion is bringing awareness to her colleagues and City residents about fraud prevention, because fraud is expensive and it impairs how well we utilize our residents’ tax dollars to deliver City services.
Germaine is a resident of Durham with her daughter Danielle and her son Allen. They live in Trinity Park where Germaine serves as the Treasurer of the Trinity Park Neighborhood Association.
Germaine enjoys playing the piano and working Sudoku puzzles in her spare time.
