ISACA Sacramento April Meeting

11:30am – 12:50pm
BYOD & Securing Mobile Enterprise Data
The “Consumerization of IT” and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) pose challenges for IT. With end users having access to a wide selection of computing and mobile device alternatives, most of the data control is out of the hands of central IT. Today, the wide array of ultra-powerful mobile phones and tablets promise limitless productivity gains, but with the threat of potentially disastrous unchecked data leakage. IT is under intense pressure to support user access to backend enterprise data and repositories on devices which are lost and stolen by the tens of thousands each day. Moreover, users have access to virtually unlimited lightly security-vetted, leaky but integrated apps, many of which provide/require data storage in some third-party cloud. And, at the risk of forfeiting ownership of enterprise-owned data, users are saying “I Accept” to terms and conditions which ultimately agree to data surrender every day. On top of it all, users want to be able to access your backend systems and data from the same device on which they keep their family photos, music, games, and recipes. Blacklisting apps is not realistic. Crippling the device is not cost-effective. Mobile Device Management (MDM) protects the device, but not the data. Learn how you can maintain the integrity of robust mobile devices and apps while eliminating data leakage and taking advantage of the full power of the mobile devices. The session will also touch on secure dynamic collaboration between applications that provide zero data leakage. Lastly, you’ll hear about best practices to manage your entire mobile ecosystem (devices, apps, management and analytics).
