Thanh Svahn is a Senior Manager in the Advisory
Services group in the Southwest Area Houston office of Ernst & Young LLP. Thanh
currently coordinates many different initiatives within Advisory Services
including internal audit, internal controls, SOX 404 requirements, and risk
Thanh has over twenty years of experience delivering creative solutions to clients in the areas of internal controls, internal audit, technical accounting, SEC reporting, and regulatory compliance. Thanh has also held several Corporate Controller positions. Thanh’s expertise includes accounting, implementing and interpreting financial accounting standards, building efficient close processes, SEC reporting, restatements, and control implementation and remediation. Prior to joining EY, Thanh held senior management positions in public accounting (Big 4), industry, and an international consulting firm.
While in public accounting, Thanh worked in both
the financial audit and the information risk management consulting practices. With
her combined financial and IT audit experience, Thanh was chosen by executive
management of a Fortune 100 company in the Retail Electricity business to
establish their newly-created Internal Controls Department and function
(pre-Sarbanes-Oxley). After the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Thanh was
responsible for ensuring compliance with the Act’s requirements. Her regulatory
compliance expertise includes implementing the compliance and reporting
requirements of the Act, including documentation, walkthroughs, and testing. Thanh
continues serving clients in the Power & Utilities and Oil & Gas
