Speaker and Topic Information
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  The morning sessions will include a speaker talking about continuous audit and a session led by Laura Doud CPA, CFE, JD. A native of Long Beach, Ms. Doud is serving her second term in the elected position of Long Beach City Auditor. She will speak on the intersection of audit planning and data reliability.
The lunch session will be led by Ted Walter, Director, Internal Audit at FICO, CPA, CIA, CISALEARNING OBJECTIVES: Mr. Walter will be speaking on how to leverage ACL to drive internal audit’s value. Mr. Walter is a certified ACL trainer and has trained both public and private sector auditors on the program. He has worked as an auditor at KPMG and Scripps and is now the Director of Internal Audit at FICO.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  The first afternoon session will provide an interesting contrast to Mr. Walter’s talk as Tim Smith discusses computer assisted audit tools including IDEA. Mr. Smith is the AVP for Internal Audit at LPL Financial and a CPA, CISA, and CISSP. He is the founder of the Southern California Independent IDEA user group and serves as the Treasurer for the San Diego chapter of ISACA. Mr. Smith’s talk will expand your understanding of the uses of computer assisted audit techniques. For the final session we are bringing back a popular speaker from last spring’s government auditing seminar, Randall Coxworth. Mr. Coxworth is the Director of Protiviti in Los Angeles. His background includes experience in construction auditing, though his talk will focus on contract auditing.
