Understanding Data Security for the Non-IT Auditor

Join the San Fernando Valley Chapter in our last meeting of the year with a presentation from an active member of our chapter, Krista Seaberg-Leisure. Krista recently presented a session on Data Security at the 2013 ISACA Spring Conference – Cyber Risk: Real and Credible Threats.

This presentation is designed to broaden your depth of understanding about data loss and prevention that will enable you to identify and evaluate sensitive data and apply data security concepts to any audit engagement.

We will walk through a case study of a sensitive data audit. The emphasis of the walkthrough will be on the approach and techniques used to develop an understanding of the landscape and risks of sensitive data - such as, identifying where high risk data exists, evaluating the protection efforts and effectiveness of  controls in place to mitigate risk. We will also walkthrough the recommendations that were made and the audit impact.

2013-2014 Officer Elections

Following our Understanding Data Security for Non-IT Auditors presentation, will be the last meeting of our 2012/13 Chapter Year. In addition to the CPE topic we will be recognizing our outgoing officers, BOG members and volunteers from this past year and voting in the new slate of volunteers. Please join us for one or, better yet, both of these great events.

The election will be open to the chapter membership and determined by a majority vote of members present at the meeting.  Each position is up for election as per the Chapter bylaws.

Two methods of nomination are possible; an individual may self-nominate, alternatively, a person may nominate a Chapter member; in doing so we request that you confirm the nominee’s availability prior to making the nomination.  All nominations should be emailed to the Ofelia Tamayo, West Region District #4 Representative, by Wednesday, May 24, 2013 at iia.otamayo@gmail.com.
