Since founding MLC & Associates in 1987, Mary L. Carrido has successfully guided the firm’s expansion from an industry leader in business continuity to a full-service management consulting firm with a client list that includes LA Metro, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, AT&T, Sony Pictures, SAS, The Irvine Company and Mattel. Mary has spent her career helping companies improve processes, enhance technologies, redefine facilities and create authentic, value-driven cultures that protect every organization’s most precious asset: their people.
Mary is dedicated to advancing the field and has spoken around the world on business continuity, business impact analysis, emergency response, strategic planning and leadership. Her passion for leadership development extends beyond coaching executives; she has also mentored student athletes and young professionals with the inclination and capacity to become great leaders. She has written numerous articles and contributed to several books, including 9.9 Coaching, Team Management for Winners, Disasters by Design: A Reassessment of Natural Hazards in the United States, and Disaster Recovery World II.
Mary served as National Chairman and CEO of the Association of Contingency Planners (ACP) and as a member of the board of directors for the Business and Industry Council for Emergency Planning and Preparedness (BICEPP). Additionally, Mary is an active faculty member of the Business Recovery Managers Symposium presented by the MIS Institute. For more than 15 years, Mary was a member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and is currently a member of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI). She served on the White House Subcommittee on Natural Disaster Reduction and is co-founder of the Disaster Recovery Business Alliance (DRBA). Mary attended UCLA for her undergraduate degree in economics and is a graduate of Stanford University’s executive bank management program.
