Welcome to the 2020-2021 Chapter year. Once again I take the Presidency role to serve you together with committed volunteers for the Institute of Internal Auditors.

The 35th years of the San Gabriel Valley Chapter has been stronger than ever, thanks to the many volunteers and members who believe in the audit profession and the many companies who supported and continue to do so to our chapter.

The chapter achieved the sixteenth Gold awards consecutively since 2004, six of those latter years the chapter achieved Platinum status. Many thanks to the Governors and Officers, volunteers and members who made this achievement possible. Congratulations! Special recognition to Diana and her team for the two years of success under her leadership.

What is my theme this year? Involvement and commitment. I believe in Volunteers, especially the millennials. I truly believe the future of the profession is in the hands of the young generation. I envision to pass the baton of the Internal Audit profession to these young and aspiring professionals.

Together let us take the challenges of COVID19 and the many opportunities it offers to bring flexibility learning and training opportunities for another successful year! Join us on the upcoming Webinar “The Navigators Conference” charting a course on the new Normal in Governance Auditing and Risk Management on May 28, 2020, jointly sponsored by Toby Groves. We are also busy finalizing our two days October 2020 seminar!

We need volunteers. The chapter is successful due to our volunteers. Help is needed in a wide variety of areas that require as little as 2 hours per month, or serving as a committee chair 8 hours per month. The choice is yours. Volunteering is an excellent career experience and provides many networking opportunities to anyone interested in getting involve. Please come see me or any of our friendly governors or officers.

The IIA Past President Bill Bishop in the 2004 newsletter about the San Gabriel Valley Chapter said, “To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.

I believe! Together we can!
