The April 17th training will be our annual joint training with the Central Illinois Chapter.  Central Chapter has arranged a very knowledgeable speaker in human interaction.  All auditors have challenges, at times, when attempting to collaborate with others on a given project.  Many of us know we need to have a courageous dialogue with co-workers, direct reports or our boss.  When we are aware of the power dynamics in the background, and use tools that increase our emotional intelligence, the conversations always go better and projects get done sooner and with more ease.
You will learn what is required for today’s auditors to successfully navigate the treacherous waters of complex work relationships when the feelings are strong and the stakes are high, including:
·         Learn to prevent interpersonal conflict through awareness of positional power dynamics
·         Create safety when communication feels risky
·         Gain new, practical tools for talking when the stakes are high
·         Lay a foundation that will transform your current relationship with conflict
The speaker is Tom Esch, MDiv, MACF who has been part of Courageous Conversations since 1969 when a whiffle ball game ended badly.  He is the President of Creating Resolution, LLC, a business that helps people prevent, manage—and when necessary, embrace conflict.  He is a student and practitioner of emotional intelligence.  Tom Esch has master’s degrees in Theology from the University of Notre Dame in S. Bend, Indiana (1991) and in “Conflict Resolution” from the Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon (2009).  He also has completed family Mediation Training at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN.
Since 1980 Tom has spoken in front of hundreds of groups, and trained people all over the USA. He has consulted with and trained auditors, attorneys, business analysts, IT professionals, investment bankers, environmental groups and religious leaders to get better results through the power of emotional intelligence, rank-awareness and interpersonal skills.
