Re: Staffing update - Inspector General selected
I am pleased to announce that Joe Maleszewski will join the board office as Inspector General beginning September 9. He is currently serving as the Inspector General (IG) at the Department of Economic Opportunity, and has served as director of audit and the state-wide computer security administrator for the Florida Department of Transportation. Joe comes with glowing commendations from current and former colleagues who consistently site his calm demeanor and proactive approach as the perfect blend for the role. He has broad connections within the IG community, having been part of state government for more than 20 years—serving primarily in Offices of Inspector General at four agencies. This is of utmost importance to our small office as we request the assistance of other agencies from time to time.
Joe earned his MBA from Florida State University and is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Inspector General (CIG). He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Association of Government Accountants (AGA), Association of Inspectors General and the Florida Audit Forum.
I want to thank the Governor’s inspector general, Melinda Miguel, and Audit Chair Alan Levine for being part of the very thorough search process, which garnered 40 applications from around the nation, including a number of current inspectors general.
We look forward to introducing Joe at the September board meeting in Sarasota.
