It is becoming increasingly common for
businesses to outsource key processes that are critical for operation. Internal
audit can assist in ensuring a smooth transition of the processes and
minimizing risks to the business.
This session will present an approach for
internal audit to add value to the outsourcing of a business process and
provide management with an evaluation of the control environment both before
and after the transfer. A case study approach will be used to describe the
methodology for the audit or consulting arrangement. We will review the key
aspects of an outsourcing arrangement:
independent evaluation of the controls prior to transfer;

Duane has been employed by Experis (formerly
Jefferson Wells) since April 2011 as a risk advisory services professional. His
projects have included assessments in the areas of human resources, treasury,
payroll, pensions, and financing operations.
Duane retired from Ford Motor Company as the
Audit Director for Ford Credit and Treasury.
He was employed for 30 years and had global audit responsibility for
Ford Credit and Treasury functions including debt issuance, pension asset
management and cash management. Prior to
his assignment at Ford Credit, he was the General Auditor for a joint venture
in Brazil and Argentina
for four years. His prior audit
responsibilities include Audit Manager in the Midwest for First Nationwide Bank
(Ford banking subsidiary) located in Chicago, Illinois and Audit Manager for
Ford Aerospace in Newport Beach, California.
His audit experience includes both financial services and manufacturing
on a global basis.
has been a CIA since 1995 and has been active on the Detroit IIA Board of
Governors and is past president of the Detroit IIA Chapter. He has been the Central Region, including
