In this comprehensive and integrated session, you will learn the benefits of fostering a collaborative environment between the IT Risk Management and IT Internal Audit functions, as well as hear about examples of governance structures and activities that support an organization’s approach to managing risks.
The key elements of the session will be the following:
- Providing the business case for collaboration, while preserving independence;
- Outlining the business benefits derived from IT Risk Management and IT Internal Audit working collaboratively to fulfill their second and third line of defense mandates; and
- An authentic case study to demonstrate how Manulife benefited from collaboration between the two functions.
Collaboration between the two functions can lead to an enhanced risk management program that is well positioned to address today’s complex technology risks.
Eugene Atangan, AVP Technology Risk Management
Eugene Atangan is the Assistant Vice President of Technology Risk Management at Manulife Financial in the Company’s Global Information Risk Management department. In this role, he is responsible for providing enterprise governance and oversight for all technology risk domain activities across Manulife, and for implementing and maintaining a robust enterprise information risk management framework and supporting infrastructure. Prior to joining Manulife, he was a Director of Operational Risk Management for Technology and Operations at the Royal Bank of Canada, and a Senior Manager with Deloitte’s Enterprise Risk Services group.
Brendan Campbell, AVP Audit Services
Brendan Campbell is the Assistant Vice President, Audit Services at Manulife Financial. In this role he is responsible for the organization and leadership of all Information Systems and Project Audit activities for Manulife's US and Canadian divisions. Prior to his role at Manulife Brendan held roles in Information security executing infrastructure security assessments and implementing solutions to related to identity and access management.
