Session Overview

There is no doubt that Blockchain has evolved to become more than just another buzzword. Linked to this evolution is the exponential increase in the number of cryptocurrency offerings, and its adoption as a foundational technology in the business value chain. Blockchain is a disruptive technology on route to revolutionize industries. The internal audit profession is no exception as Blockchain’s inherent characteristics of immutability has the potential to impact audit.

Join us for an engaging and interactive session on Blockchain, where we will:

·    Demystify Blockchain fundamentals, with hands-on mobile based audience engagement to simplify some of the complex topics
·    Perform a game-based engagement for audience on Blockchain Transaction Lifecycle and understanding of complex topics such as Nodes, Consensus, Cryptography, Hashing and Mining
·    Demonstrate the potential of Blockchain through case studies, and explore the opportunities and challenges posed by blockchain in the internal audit process.

Speakers – Behram Faroough, Asif Qayyum, Soumyajit Haldar, PwC

Behram is a partner in the risk assurance services practice in PwC Canada currently leading the Emerging Technologies practice. A professional accountant with more than 25 years of experience that span from the shop floor to the board room, Behram has completed assignments that consider the interplay, optimization and oversight of strategy, people, systems and processes.

Asif is a Managing Director in PwC Canada's Emerging Technology Assurance Practice. He has worked across multiple industries having hands-on experience in managing complex transformation programs in North America and Asia. He is an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow from MIT.

Soumyajit is an experienced manager in PwC Canada's Emerging Technology Assurance Practice with over 16 years of experience and knowledge of the latest technologies, across the Java, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and SAP landscape. He has solid experience in translating complexity of a system into manageable model describing the essence of system by exposing important details and significant constraints.
