Session Overview

The threat from cyberattacks and data breaches is significant and continue to escalate, and have quickly elevated to become a high priority for organizations across all industries. Data breaches and cyberattacks pose potentially catastrophic reputational, financial and legal consequences that are so significant that organizations are increasingly focusing on how to safeguard their assets, particularly industries and organizations with sensitive data, such as personal identifiable information, bank or cardholder data, company financials, intellectual property, or material non-public information. Internal audit serves a critical role in helping organizations in the continuous battle of managing cyber threats by providing an independent assessment of existing and needed controls, and helping organizations understand and address the diverse risks of the ever-changing digital world. In this session, we will:

  • Discuss approaches for auditing an organization’s cyber security posture and identify key risks
  • Define audit evidence requests needed to evaluate an organization’s cyber security controls
  • Examine ways to assess an organization’s cyber security maturity
  • Recognize new and emerging cyberattacks, threats, and vulnerabilities
  • Discuss cybersecurity frameworks and assessment tools currently available
  • Identify key elements of a Data Privacy program
