President’s Message

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” – Abraham Lincoln
While it may seem like the summer break is a slow period for the Tulsa IIA, I assure you our team of lumberjacks is hard at work sharpening our programs for the upcoming year.  Over the past few years, we focused heavily on servicing our profession and community.  As a result, our community and Academic Relations teams have done an excellent job setting the standard for years to come.   This year, we all agreed an area focus should be “Service to our Members” because it is you, our member and volunteer base that make us such a strong and successful chapter.
Part of providing service to our members is offering relevant, engaging, and cost-effective CPE opportunities throughout the year. To achieve this goal, we got rid of the axe and brought in a chainsaw.  I am excited to announce the formation of our new Programs Committee consisting of Robyn Cannon, Cathy Criswell, Jim Sleezer, Sarah Kuhn, and Vicki Peters. This combined effort of chapter leaders will work towards providing you with quality CPE opportunities at a discounted rate.
Another important part of providing service to our members is determining what you want. Our Program Committee Chair Robyn Cannon created a member survey to help us assist with planning.  Everyone who participates will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card at our first meeting on September 6th.
I could go on and on about axes, chainsaws and lumberjacks, but then I would not have anything to write about in our next newsletter. I’ll end by saying thank you for such a successful chapter year and we will all do our best to continue with the same level of success.
