IIA Canada National Conference Call for Speakers

Welcome to The Vancouver Island Chapter

President’s Message
On behalf of myself and your Board, welcome to the Vancouver Island IIA Chapter. The chapter continues to offer an engaging professional development program with monthly luncheons at the Union Club in beautiful downtown Victoria.
The IIA is a large global organization and in Canada, there are chapters in every province.  Our chapter may be small but we consider the efforts of the Board and members mighty.
The Chapter has just attained Platinum status for 10 consecutive years of meeting a high standard of excellence.  This could not have been done without the quality of the people volunteering and the high caliber of internal audit professionals on Vancouver Island.
Our annual fraud seminar in October is our premier event with a day long session.  Our speakers captivate and educate the audience in fraud prevention, detection and lessons learned. Look for upcoming promotion for the 20 October 2017 event.
As incoming president, along with the board we will be continuing to build on successes.  The vision of past presidents brought to fruition an internal audit course at Camosun College.
Even Chapter members have undertaken this course to further education.
We continue to support development of the profession at the student level with the presentation of the first internal audit $1000 scholarship in April 2017.  Congratulations to Camosun business student, Lacy Ballum on her high academic achievement and award winning essay.
We are extremely proud of the program we have developed with you, the members, in mind.  The input received from internal audit professionals at all stages of career inform our choices and we seek to continually serve you, the members.
I look forward to meeting you all at upcoming events.
