 IIAVC-TRU Accounting Night

The IIA Vancouver Chapter (IIAVC) attended Thompson River University (TRU)’s Accounting Night (virtual) on September 14, 2021. The session provided an opportunity for students to learn more about the Internal Audit profession. Students asked a lot of great questions and we were glad to clarify some “myths” about Internal Audit, such as, one does not need a CPA to become an Internal Auditor and that many CIA’s come from varied backgrounds.

We would like to thank the following IIAVC members for taking the time to share their Internal Audit experience and insights with the students:

  • Alma Klarich, Senior Internal Auditor of TRU

  • Ariko Greenfield, Manager, Corporate Audit Services of ICBC

  • Karen Wang, Senior Internal Auditor from BCLC and IIAVC Academic Relations

Special thanks to Christina Duquette (Director, Internal Audit of TRU) for inviting us to this event and Shawn Read (Chairperson & BBA Co-operative Education Coordinator of TRU) for organizing the event.
