In addition to selecting and designing effective performance audits, legislative auditors have the extra challenge of reporting publicly on their findings. The Auditor General of Manitoba, Carol Bellringer, will describe how her Office manages this public scrutiny, while providing information which is useful to management and legislators.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:
Carol Bellringer was appointed Manitoba’s Auditor General in 2006. She is a Chartered Accountant (named a "Fellow" for her contributions to the community in 2006). Carol worked for KPMG (then Peat Marwick Mitchell) in Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg before joining Manitoba’s Provincial Auditor’s Office in 1988. Carol spent 6 years in Warsaw, Poland from 1996 to 2002. Carol holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University in Montreal and an MBA from the University of Quebec at Montreal and the Warsaw School of Economics.
From 2002-2006, Carol held the position of Director of Private Funding at the University of Manitoba, was a member of the board and then chair of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, was a board member and audit committee chair at Manitoba Hydro, and was a member of the audit committee at Cancer Care Manitoba.
Currently, Carol is a member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, the advisory board of the Manitoba Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), the board of the Manitoba Cardiac Institute (Reh-Fit) Inc. and the board of the International Federation of Accountants.
